The Purple Vintage Space Princess is a magical earth goddess who's mission is to help people realize
their inner power and strength through her music. Mammi-Ama Ofori has been composing and playing several instruments all her life. She plays the acoustic guitar, piano, cello and clarinet just to name a few. Some have called her "A young female Miles Davis with a guitar." Her sound is unique with the jazzy soulfulness of Cassandra Wilson in her voice, and the acoustic guitar vibe of Joni Mitchell. The Purple Vintage Princess spreads joy to the ear with her flow of her instrumentals, lyrics and voice.

A day in the Purple Vintage Space Princess life is always magical and full of unexpected surprises. I wake up creating my day meditating on the things that I want to achieve and visualizing about my dreams... then I let the rest of the day unfold. I stretch, I eat and the I SING & PLAY! Other factors fall in between and there is always a lot of Macbook playing and networking online. I am constantly networking and making the next show and miracle happen!

Your musical influences?
Musically, I am influenced by SO MANY artists. They don't have to be famous they just have to strike a feeling that resonates inside me. Just to name a few: Stevie wonder, ella fitzgerald, patti labelle, minnie riperton, manu chao, george benson, tina turner, Etta James, Melissa Etheridge, michael jackson, quincy jones, james taylor, tori amos, roberta flack, laura nyro, jaco pastrorius, frank zappa,tribe called quest, the roots, india arie, ben folds five, buena vista social club, anita baker, the carpenters, cassandra wilson, joni mitchell, chaka khan, chicago, colin hay, aimee mann, lisa loeb, jason mraz, floetry, jazzyfatnastees, les nubians, rez, nick drake, keith jarrett, luther vandross, matthew allen & julie searles, oleta adams, patti labelle, phoenix, earth wind & fire, the pointer sisters, roy ayers, prince, sarah mclachlan, john mayer, shawn colvin, todd rundgren (THIS LIST WILL FOREVER GO ON) This is just a short list! I'm also influenced by strong people who have struggled in this world only to come out on stop to be successful! My mother is one of my heros!

Your favorite dish?
I absolutely love fish so perhaps a perfect menu would be gourment sample dishes of the finest fish entrees! I'd sample about 10 different kinds and top it off with some amazing white (and red...) wines. Desert - anything with vanilla or caramel in it. I'm not a big fan of chocolate!

How would you define your music?
My music is definitely unique! I taught myself how to play guitar and I learned by ear. They style in which I play and strum the strings is quite my own. I feel and use the entire guitar when I play. I have a soulful folk aspect to my sound but definitely do not pigeon hold me to one genre. I play other instruments and I will infuse all styles of music and make it into my own. Purple Vintage Space Princess is different yet I feel everyone can identify with it even if its not your top choice kind of music.

Do you often use internet?
The internet is CRUCIAL for me and my work! I utilize it to communicate, to record, to network, research, disvovery, design work ETC! The list goes on. If I don't have a computer or Internet I feel like I have a missing piece to my puzzle. We are a great team together!
